Elon Musk's X Introduces Audio and Video Calls for Android Users

Elon Musk’s venture, X, is introducing a new feature that allows Android users to make audio and video calls directly from the app.

Rolling Out the Feature

As per a post by one of the X engineers involved in the project, Android users will gradually gain access to this feature through an app update.

“Audio and video calls on X slowly rolling out for Android users today! update your app and call your mother,” shared X engineer Enrique on Friday.

Premium Access Only

It’s worth noting that this feature will be exclusive to premium users.

Managing Calls

To manage audio and video calling settings, users can navigate to Settings > Privacy and Safety > Direct Messages. From there, they can specify who can call them, choosing from three options: people in their address book, people they follow, and verified users. Users can select multiple options based on their preferences.

New Paid Tier for Verified Organizations

In addition to the new calling feature, X recently announced a basic paid tier for verified organizations, priced at $200 per month or $2,000 per year.

Benefits of the Basic Tier

The basic tier grants verified organizations a gold check-mark badge and several other perks. This tier, tailored for smaller businesses, offers ad credits and priority support, facilitating accelerated growth on X.

Enhancing User Experience

With the introduction of audio and video calls for Android users and the unveiling of the new paid tier for verified organizations, X aims to enhance the user experience and provide valuable tools for both individuals and businesses alike.
