Established in 2019, the Canoeing Training Base in Augustów embodies the winning concept of an architectural competition held in 2016. Tasked with creating a water sports center and developing neighboring recreational areas, the investment unfolds in stages, with the canoeing base being the inaugural phase.
Prime Location
Situated in the heart of Augustów, along the west boulevard of the Netta River, the resort occupies a picturesque bend, integral to the historical Augustów Canal. Surrounded by public leisure areas, the base attracts both locals and tourists seeking outdoor activities.
Distinctive Form
Comprising a canoe base and a boat hangar with a platform, the Water Sports Center boasts a distinctive triangular structure. Its sloping walls create unique arcades, accentuating entrances and framing views. The dynamic form reflects movement and dynamism, offering access to an observation deck atop the hangar.
Functional Design
The base serves as a hub for local canoe clubs, hosting training sessions, meetings, and sporting events. Facilities include training areas, changing rooms, a gym with water views, club rooms, equipment storage, and public amenities. The water hangar features platforms for watercraft and storage space for motorboats.
Aesthetic Finish
Externally, the building is clad in natural Siberian larch, arranged horizontally to enhance its dynamic silhouette. The natural tones harmonize with the surrounding landscape. The roof is adorned with an extensive green cover, blending seamlessly with the environment. Internally, the design adopts a minimalist aesthetic, promoting functionality and simplicity.
In essence, the Canoeing Training Base not only provides state-of-the-art facilities for canoe enthusiasts but also integrates harmoniously with its natural surroundings, offering a serene and dynamic space for training, competition, and leisure activities.
