This move followed a memo from CEO Niraj Shah urging staff to increase their efforts and dedication to work. Shah emphasized the importance of long hours, responsiveness, and a seamless integration of work and personal life, suggesting that laziness would not lead to success.

According to a Wayfair spokesperson, the restructuring aimed to establish a “healthy foundation for growth.” As a result, some remote workers found themselves without roles. While the company maintains a belief in in-person work, it acknowledges the continuation of remote roles where appropriate.
